Synopsis [top]

Situated in the north east corner of Columbia, South America, near the Venezuelan border, lies one of the world’s most remote and spectacular mountain ranges - The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. This region is home to the reclusive Kogi, one of the last remaining traditional indigenous cultures, a people who have largely maintained their traditional ways by avoiding contact with “little brother”, their name for those in the outside world who destroy the planet with warfare, pollution and ignorance. They are the gatekeepers and ardent defenders of the sacred summits that surround them, while living in the shadows of a bitter civil war.

Sacred Flight is a film about Peter Chrzanowski's dream to re-visit and fly, in the Sierra Nevada De Santa Marta. The region is also inhabited by reclusive tribes of Kogi and Arhuaco natives which are the ONLY true remaining cultures which resisted assimilation and hegemony during the Spanish Conquest. A follow up / conclusion to JOURNEY TO THE HEART OF THE WORLD produced ten years earlier.
